Block 67 Redevelopment Update
In September 2022, the City awarded Rembold, a local real estate development company, the exclusive right to negotiate for the purchase and development of Block 67 through a competitive RFP process.
Their proposal for the site — titled Viridian — included market-rate housing, retail space, a public plaza, and mid-sized grocery store to be delivered by Rembold, and an affordable housing development to be delivered by Related Northwest and Centro Cultural.
During the past year, Rembold and partners conducted surveys, estimates, and other due diligence tasks to advance the design through several iterations.
Now, project work is suspended due to the current state of the real estate and capital markets, and unprecedented increases to both borrowing and construction costs.
The parties remain interested, and committed, to the project should the economic conditions become more favorable.

In addition to previous community engagement, further opportunities for public input, including neighborhood meetings, will be included as part of any development process prior to the project being formally authorized by the Hillsboro Economic Development Council (HEDC).
Overview
Making Downtown Hillsboro a more vibrant, livable place continues to be a top community priority. The redevelopment of Block 67 will help further meet the community’s goals for Downtown Hillsboro as well as enhance the connection between Hillsboro’s Health and Education District and the historic Downtown.
The City does not intend to retain ownership of the block in the long-term. Rather, it intends to divide it and work with developers to deliver projects in support of the City’s goals for Downtown.
