Join City staff to learn more about the State-mandated changes to the way Hillsboro regulates parking. This is an opportunity for interested parties to speak one-on-one with city staff, learn more about the parking policy options available, and share their perspectives on parking policy.
The new rules require some cities and counties to make significant changes to their regulations around land use and development, parking requirements, transportation system planning, and expanded regional coordination.
These new rules have several areas of focus:
Parking Management Reform
Climate-Friendly Areas (Regional and Town Center)
Preparing for Electric Vehicles
Planning for Future Transportation
Regional Planning for Climate Goals
Each of these areas require cities to change their existing rules and policies. One of the new rules requires cities within identified metropolitan areas to change their approach to parking.
The new rules require cities to remove parking minimums OR adopt strategies and programs to reduce parking burdens. The City is reaching out and listening to residents and business owners on how best to implement the mandatory parking reforms citywide.
