Shute Park Public Art Finalists Presentations

HOME by Matthew MazzottaThe City of Hillsboro’s Public Art Program is excited to announce the three finalist artists selected to develop designs for the new artwork at Shute Park.

Artists James Peterson, Becky Borlan, and Matthew Mazzotta are invited to participate in the design round, which includes a site visit and free community presentation on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 from 6 – 8 pm at the Hillsboro Community Senior Center.

The three finalists were selected by a community-based committee representing key stakeholders and business leaders from Calle Diez (10th Avenue), the local artist community, community members from the surrounding neighborhood, the Hillsboro Arts & Culture Council, and the Hillsboro Parks & Recreation Commission.

Prisms by Becky BorlanDuring the community presentation, each artist will provide a 20 to 30-minute presentation about their public art practice and highlight why they are interested in the project at Shute Park. After the presentations there will be opportunity for a Q&A conversation.
