Opening Celebration: Cornelius Pass Road Bridge Over Butternut Creek

Help us celebrate two road projects in Hillsboro!

  • Date: 08/21/2024 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm

CPRB Opening LocationHelp celebrate the completion of two Washington County transportation projects in Hillsboro with a ribbon-cutting event at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21.

The event takes place on the new Cornelius Pass Road extension at Butternut Creek Parkway in South Hillsboro. Travel to Butternut Creek Drive via 209th Avenue. Street parking will be available on Butternut Creek Parkway. Cornelius Pass Road remains closed south of Kinnaman Road. Please do not move or drive around road barricades.

County and city leaders will give a short presentation followed by a ribbon-cutting and an opportunity to walk across the new bridge and over a segment of walking trails.

The Cornelius Pass Road Bridge Over Butternut Creek is a one of Washington County’s largest bridges. The bridge and road extension is part of the South Hillsboro Community Plan. The bridge is paid for by Washington County, the city of Hillsboro and the community developer, Pahlisch Homes, through the MSTIP Bonding Cost-sharing Program

The 209th Avenue Project widened the street, between Alexander Street and Kinnaman Road, to five lanes with bike lanes and sidewalks. The project improves road capacity for South Hillsboro and the surrounding community. It was paid for through the Major Streets Transportation Improvement Program and MSTIP Bonding Cost-sharing Program

Construction of both projects is nearly complete. Though 209th Avenue has reopened, there  will be additional work through September. Cornelius Pass Road, including the bridge, is expected to be complete in the coming weeks.
