Hillsboro’s Orenco Station
Orenco Station is a mixed-use area located adjacent to the North Hillsboro Industrial District. It is a 135-acre space originally planned in the 1990s to include residential, commercial and mixed-use sites. Today, Orenco Station is an award-winning district that demonstrates how a pedestrian-friendly environment can be a successful component of a modern neighborhood that is full of new development.Orenco gets its name from the Oregon Nursery Company that was located on the property in Hillsboro’s early days. A small neighborhood of historic homes that once housed nursery employees still exists within the district near the rail line. Today, the district also includes modern townhomes, upscale single-family detached homes, luxury apartments, as well as multiple pedestrian-oriented commercial centers featuring consumer-focused service businesses, retail shopping, and popular restaurants.
Parks and greenspace are also a prominent part of the landscape. The Orenco Station Plaza provides a vibrant, flexible space for the community to gather throughout the year. From outdoor yoga to wine and beer festivals, to open-air ice skating, there’s something for everyone.
Orenco Station sits along the MAX light rail line, providing easy service to Downtown Hillsboro, Portland, Portland International Airport, and other destinations served by regional mass transit. Highway 26, the main artery for driving into Portland, is easily accessible as well. With major employers like Intel right in Orenco’s backyard, it’s possible to live and work within the district, enjoying a new urban lifestyle full of desirable amenities.
