Artists and arts, cultural, and educational exhibiting organizations are invited to apply for an exhibit at the Walters Cultural Arts Center Gallery and the Hillsboro Civic Center Gallery for the upcoming 2025-2026 season. Applicants are asked to submit an exhibit proposal, background information, and example images to be considered.

Open to artists of all ages and abilities, and arts, cultural, and educational organizations. All media and exhibit modalities are considered. Priority given to artists and organizations who are based in Hillsboro and Washington County.

Are you an individual performer or a performance group interested in opportunities with Hillsboro Parks & Recreation? 

There are a variety of occasions that come up throughout the year, at events both large and small, that include live music and dance performances.

Performances are a vital part of our community festivals, but also may be needed for a gallery opening or other small reception, a public art dedication, or even on the stage at the City's performing arts venue, the Walters Cultural Arts Center.

When seeking performers for such events, one of our goals is to showcase the diverse and amazing creative talent found throughout Hillsboro and the larger Metro area.

By filling out this form, you'll be added to our performer database which is used throughout the Parks & Recreation Department as a resource when performance opportunities come up throughout the year.

The Hillsboro Public Art Program is continually looking for artists to help shape the creative image of the city, and maintains a roster of artists who want to serve as part of our public art selection panels throughout the year.

For each public art commission or purchase, a selection committee is convened that includes artists and arts professionals, such as landscape architects, architects, designers, or graphic artists. This volunteer role helps assure a high level of artistic quality in the art that is selected.

Are you an artist, storyteller, historian, filmmaker, writer, actor, or any other type of creative and/or educator who is looking for speaking and presentation opportunities to share your work?

We are interested in a wide range of creative presentations, including but not limited to film screenings, pop-up exhibits, author readings, cultural performances, stories and presentations, theatrical readings, artist conversations, historical and educational discussions, and more.

Content for all age groups is welcome.

Want to teach a class at the Walters Cultural Arts Center in downtown Hillsboro? 

The Walters is the premier arts center in Hillsboro and houses a 200 hundred seat theater with a wood dance floor, gallery, four classrooms, including a ceramic wheel room, and outdoor areas.  We offer classes for children and adults, as well as family classes in a wide range of mediums.

Applications for Winter/Spring 2025 are closed. Submissions for Summer 2025 will open in January.

Most of our teaching artists are independent contractors, but background checks are required.
