Let the timeless beauty of the Walters Cultural Arts Center infuse your special gathering with the spirit of creativity and culture.

With its classic red-stone architecture, stained glass features, custom woodwork ceiling arches, concert quality sound system, and fine art gallery, the Walters is one of the west side’s most treasured sites for weddings, anniversaries, bar or bat mitzvahs, quinceañeras, galas, fundraisers, memorials, meetings, and other events. Private rentals are available on the weekends.

Weddings, Special Events, & Festivals

Whether you’d like an intimate family reception for 40 guests in our gallery, an extravagant party for 200 in the theatre, an outdoor reception on the lawn, or a cultural festival for the community, the Walters provides a variety of amenable and affordable options for your big day.

Weddings & Special Event Rentals in the Theatre (up to 200 guests)

6-hour rental minimum; up to 200 guests

Our Theatre Event Package is suited for up to 200 guests and includes 6 hours of rental time and use of the Walters Theatre, Kitchen, Lobby and Outdoor Terraces

Other amenities include:

Tables & Seating for up to 200 guests. Note: Guest capacity will depend on the style of set-up that the renter chooses for this event. Our Rental Coordinator can help you determine the best set-up for your guests.
Basic Audiovisual Package: 2 handheld/wireless microphones, HD projector & screen for slideshows and video, podium with attached microphone, and audio support for recorded music and video. Note: Renter must provide own laptop for presentations and slideshows
VIP Room with private bathroom for wedding party, performers, or presenters.
Lobby space adequate for food, beverage, and gift tables
One hour complimentary walk-through for the wedding/event rehearsals. Note: Date/time subject to availability.
A complimentary consultation with our AV Technician about your event’s audiovisual needs.
Facility Supervision during your event, including support for basic lighting, sound, and set-up. Note: Does not include cleaning services (see our rental guidelines for more details)
Use caterer of your choice
Private weddings and special events on weekend dates

Additional time and space rental will incur additional rental fees.

Weddings and Special Event Rentals in the Gallery (up to 50 guests)

4-hour rental minimum; up to 50 guests

Our Gallery Event Package is suited for groups of up to 50 people and includes 4 hours of rental time and use of the Walters Gallery and Kitchen.

Other amenities include:

Tables & Seating for up to 50 guests. Note: Guest capacity will depend on the style of set-up that the renter chooses for this event. Our Rental Coordinator can help you determine the best set-up for your guests.
Basic Audiovisual Package: 1 handheld/wireless microphone, projector and screen for slideshows and videos, and audio support for recorded music and video. Note: Renter must provide own laptop for presentations and slideshows.
Access to private restrooms for wedding party, performers, or presenters.
1-hour complimentary walk-through for the wedding/event rehearsals. Note: Date/time subject to availability.
A complimentary consultation with our AV Technician about your event’s audiovisual needs

Cultural Festival or Celebrations for the Public

Ballet Papilotl Organizers of cultural festivals and celebrations that are held in Hillsboro, Oregon and are open to the public may apply for some support for their event.

This could include the use of loaned equipment, a fee waiver for use of a City Park, Plaza, or the Walters Cultural Arts Center and financial support.

For the purposes of this application, a Cultural Festival or Celebration is defined as an event connected to ethnic or national heritage traditions representative of our diverse population in Hillsboro.

Events that are religious in nature are not eligible, but events may have connections to cultural and religious traditions if they are being celebrated in an inclusive and secular manner.

Our goal is to support authentic, community-led, cultural celebrations in an equitable, transparent way that improves access to support.

The City of Hillsboro has set aside a limited fund to support these cultural events, and applications will be reviewed quarterly. Requests for specific dates, facilities, and equipment are pending availability.

Cultural Festival or Celebration Support Requests for the Walters Cultural Arts Center should be sent to our Rental Coordinator, Lorena Ortiz.

Meetings and Trainings

The Walters Cultural Arts Center is an ideal place for luncheons, training opportunities, and meetings for your professional group or organization. Our discounted Meeting & Training rates are limited to meetings, trainings, and luncheons that take place during the Walters’ normal operating hours (Mon -Thurs: 9 am – 9 pm, Fri: 9 am – 5 pm). If you would like to have a training or meeting outside of these hours or on the weekend, our Special Event pricing will apply.

The Walters’ Classrooms are great spaces for groups up to 12 people and can be rented on an hourly basis

Other amenities include

Tables & Seating for up to 12 guests. Note: Guest capacity will depend on the style of set-up that the renter chooses for this event. Tables and chairs will be provided in standard set-up. You may rearrange the seating as necessary for your meeting, as long as the room returns to the standard set-up at the end of your rental.

Memorial Services

The Walters Cultural Arts Center is a beautiful location to host a memorial service. Memorials are often unexpected, so we will work with you to quickly and efficiently make arrangements during this difficult time.

Memorials in the Theatre (up to 200 guests)

A Memorial Service in the Walters Theatre will accommodate up to 200 guests and includes 4 hours of rental time and use of the Kitchen, Lobby and Outdoor Terraces.
