Code compliance officers work in partnership with the community to correct municipal code violations.
The officers:
- Monitor for code issues
- Facilitate voluntary code compliance
- When necessary, issue citations to ensure corrective action is taken
Code compliance officers work in the community wearing uniforms and driving marked code compliance vehicles, and they are a strong part of our department’s community policing approach.
They also work closely with patrol and traffic officers. Code compliance officers often assist with traffic control at crashes and other sudden road closures and take reports on nonviolent incidents that are not in progress, such as thefts without a suspect.
