Records specialists provide customer service to the public, partner agencies, and police officers through the coordination, research, and dissemination of information in accordance with the law. Other duties include processing police reports, background clearances, vehicle impound releases, and data entry.
After completing a probationary period, records specialists serve in several secondary assignments, including:
- Field training officer
- Recruiting
- Peer support
Records specialists are eligible for promotion to leadership ranks within the unit or to other professional staff positions throughout the department.
The Records Unit is open 24 hours-a-day, seven days-a-week, including holidays.
