Retrieving Property
Please reference the property receipt given to you at the time of seizure for further information regarding retrieving your property.
- Safekeeping and found property is held for 90 days.
- If you are unable to retrieve your property within 90 days, you may provide a notarized letter authorizing a third party to claim the property for you.

Vehicle Release Information
If your vehicle has been towed by the Hillsboro Police Department or involved in a crime, a vehicle release is required to get your vehicle out of impound.

Required Documents
The owner of the vehicle must be present or provide a notarized letter authorizing release to a third party.
Please bring:
- Proof of ownership, such as:
- Current Department of Motor Vehicle registration
- Notarized bill of sale within 30 days. If your notarized bill of sale is more than 30 days old, you will need to get the vehicle registered in your name with the Department of Motor Vehicles.
- Vehicle Title
- Proof of current insurance
- Valid driver license
- If the owner of the vehicle does not have a valid driver license, they must bring a licensed driver with them.
- $100 payment in the form of exact cash, cashier's check, or money order.
