Homelessness: City Seeks Partner for Safe Park Pilot Site

Post Date:12/27/2023

Icon of a vehicle under a roofThe City of Hillsboro and Project Homeless Connect are seeking a commercial, public, nonprofit, or religious institution property owner to partner on a Safe Park Pilot Site.

Modeled after Beaverton's successful Safe Parking Program, the 12-month trial site would support people experiencing homelessness and living out of vehicles.

The property owner would provide:

  • Parking lot space for three vehicles (extra spots are helpful for spacing)
  • Space for a porta potty & handwashing station
  • Space for a storage unit
  • Trash removal services

Project Homeless Connect will oversee intake and case management while the City of Hillsboro supplies the porta potty, handwashing station, and storage unit.

Successful sites in Beaverton are tucked back from direct street view and near a building in active use. Guests may be individuals or families, must complete a background check prior to program entry, and follow a code of conduct throughout their stay.
