What does it mean to say that our residents and community partners can count on the City of Hillsboro to live up to “The Hillsboro Way” of doing business? As the phrase applies to our city government, The Hillsboro Way means we place providing excellent customer service as our top priority at all times, without exception. I believe it’s an overwhelmingly positive expression that our local government serves our community’s interests by being responsive and respectful of the many elements and partners that work together to make a successful city.

The Hillsboro Way means we turn to our residents and community leaders for guidance through programs such as Hillsboro 2020 and Imagine Hillsboro 2035!, then we execute their vision for the future success of our City. It means we proactively look for ways to support our local businesses and ensure their future success; in turn, ensuring future employment opportunities for our community. We are fast, friendly and flexible to assure a business climate where companies thrive.

It means we seek out and embrace innovative and creative solutions that improve our community’s quality of life.  It means we promote the outstanding livability that Hillsboro offers to residents and to those outside of the City. We reinforce that Hillsboro is a great place to be through our parks, our libraries, our special events, and a multitude of other community assets.

It means we do all we can to continually foster a great work environment for our employees where job satisfaction leads to greater productivity. At the same time, it means we demand that our employees live up to the community’s expectations for professionalism and adherence to core values such as trust, reliability and respect.

It means we build on our City’s history and accept our responsibility as a growing community to be a leader not only for the region, but also for Oregon.
