Location: At the corner of NE Ashmont Street & NE 74th Avenue

Facility Type: Vegetative swale

Purpose: Built in 1998, the facility provides stormwater treatment for the Orenco Park neighborhood and drains into Beaverton Creek.

Proposed Repair

The swale is not working correctly due to being located within the 100-year floodplain of Beaverton Creek. As a result, the swale doesn’t perform well during storm events. The swale is also difficult to access and maintain due to the steep elevation change between NE 74th Avenue and the bottom of the swale.

The repairs include:

  • Relocate the stormwater facility out of the 100-year floodplain and into NE 74th Avenue
  • Install a pre-treatment water quality manhole to help collect sediment and debris
  • Install an underground filter vault below NE 74th Avenue to provide stormwater treatment
  • Connect the existing catch basins at the end of NE 74th to the new filter vault stormwater treatment system
