The City of Hillsboro received its first Gold Safety Award for workplace safety efforts to reduce accidents, and the 2015 Helen and Alan Berg Good Governance Award for Hillsboro’s Job Training Opportunity Program (JTOP).

City of Hillsboro Employees Raise $10,000 for Relay for Life
This was the 13th year that a team of City of Hillsboro employees participated in Relay of Life, which is the official charity selected by City employees. The City of Hillsboro’s team has raised $10,000 so far, with efforts continuing until August 31. Overall, the event has raised $153,000.

The Hillsboro Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council (YAC) is recruiting students in grades 9-12 to join YAC for the 2015-2016 school year. Applications are due by April 30.

Youth Invasion 2014 Launches Future Careers
The second annual Hillsboro Youth Invasion gave more than 280 Students from Century, Glencoe, Hillsboro, Liberty, and Miller Education Center high schools, the ability to explore careers in local government and learn how City of Hillsboro employees work to serve the community.

Hillsboro Selects Lee Dobrowolski to be Police Chief
Hillsboro City Manager Michael Brown has selected Lee Dobrowolski to lead the Hillsboro Police Department as Police Chief, accomplishing his goal to have the best Police Chief in place by early 2014. Dobrowolski (pronounced Dah-BROW-skee) will join the City of Hillsboro after 22 years of serving the Salt Lake City Police Department, where he currently is Deputy Chief.

City Leaders Seek Ideas for Hillsboro 2035 Vision Plan
The City of Hillsboro and the Hillsboro 2035 Task Force encourage community members to submit ideas that will help shape Hillsboro’s future. Past ideas include calls for public art, community gathering places and events, bike and pedestrian improvements, environmental programs, and more. Hillsboro Police Chief Recruitment Narrowed to Five Finalists
The City of Hillsboro has selected five finalist candidates seeking to become the next Chief of the Hillsboro Police Department. The panel of finalists comes less than a month after the City received 62 applications for the Police Chief position from candidates representing 17 states.
