The City's Development Services team works with the private, public and nonprofit sectors to effectively permit projects that achieve community goals.

This includes: plan review, inspections, and enforcing adopted code and statues to help create a strong and vibrant Hillsboro through thoughtful planning and development.

Building & Construction Permits

Examples of scenarios that require a building permit include, but are not limited to:

  • Building a new commercial building, residential home, shed or structure  
  • Building an addition to a commercial building, residential home, shed or structure  
  • Repairing, renovating or demolishing any building or structure  
  • Changing the use and/or occupancy of a building 
  • Changing, removing or installing any required means of egress in a building  

Trade Permits may be required if you are doing any electrical, mechanical or plumbing work.
